Does the Mind-Muscle Connection Matter?

Who this actually matters to
Mind-muscle connection is uniquely valuable for people looking to grow a specific body part at a higher level, the kind of targeted, deliberate activation seen in competitive bodybuilding, where engaging a muscle for maximum stimulus is the entire point of the set.
What matters more for everyone else
Outside that specific context, mind-muscle connection is helpful, but breathing patterns do more for most people's training quality day to day. Focusing energy there tends to produce a better return for anyone not specifically chasing targeted hypertrophy.
