Are AI Fitness Coaches Worth It?

Who it's genuinely right for
If you don't struggle with commitment, have no underlying health condition, and aren't carrying an injury, an AI coach is a strong choice. It's freedom — your own time, your own place, gym or run or swim, whatever fits the day. For people in good standing health, that flexibility is the whole point.
Where it isn't the right call
- Commitment issues. If you need to show up at a specific place at a specific time to actually follow through, that structure is the point — an AI coach won't charge you for missing a session or call you out for skipping one.
- Real health conditions. We once worked with a client managing angina pectoris, where the risk of triggering it through an elevated heart rate was real. Training someone hard while deliberately keeping heart rate lower than an ordinary lifter takes full attention and judgement — not something to hand to an AI alone.
- Active injuries. Week one can look great. Week four can be worse because fatigue built up and something got irritated along the way. Catching that takes an experienced eye and patience, not just data.
The honest split
This isn't a sales pitch dressed up as balance — it's genuinely true that the right tool depends on the person. Mr Z is built for the large majority of people who just need structure, accountability, and a coach who's always available. For anyone managing something more complex, a human comes first.
