How Often to Train for Recomposition

Francesco Zen, founder of ZTraining · Last updated 19 June 2026

Why recovery sets the limit, not ambition

Recovery matters more than stimulus. The goal week to week is to get progressively stronger, not progressively more tired. Training frequency that outpaces recovery capacity works against that goal, regardless of how motivated someone is to add another session.

"We want to progressively get strong week by week, not more tired every week."
