Why Strength Training Matters for Fat Loss
Francesco Zen, founder of ZTraining · Last updated June 20, 2026
Why this isn't the framing most people expect
Strength training doesn't automatically translate into higher glucose expenditure. Longer rest periods between heavy sets mean less continuous cardiovascular demand than a cardio-style session, which is the opposite of what most fat loss advice assumes.
What strength training is genuinely good for
Strength training is valuable for physical functionality, real-world strength, structural resilience, capacity, not specifically as a fat loss tool. Fat loss in this method comes from the metabolic setup principle and nutrition, with strength training playing its own, separate role.
