What 18 Years of Coaching Taught Me About Consistency

The lesson, before it had anything to do with coaching
Competing in regional athletics and later being called up for an Olympic qualifier taught a single lesson that's outlasted the sport itself: you win before you start. Confidence has to be set in the mind first. Everything physical follows from that, not the other way round.
Why discipline alone isn't the answer
Discipline is the base. It isn't the actual product. The real product is a sharpened mind, paying attention to the whole environment a person lives in, not just the hour spent training.
"Your friendships, your relationships, your work, your recovery, your view on life. Everything creates you."
What this means for staying consistent
Consistency rarely fails because someone lacks willpower in the gym. It fails because the surrounding environment, mindset, and recovery weren't accounted for. Working with the body and the mind together is what gives someone real control over all of it, which is the actual definition of consistency this methodology is built around. Discipline is power, but only once the mind is set first.
