Why Am I Not Losing Fat Despite Eating Less?

Francesco Zen, founder of ZTraining · Last updated June 19, 2026

Why "eating less" isn't the same as a deficit

A deficit depends on actual energy balance, not a feeling of having cut back. Without checking macros and sources directly, it's entirely possible to believe less is being eaten while the real numbers don't support that.

Where to actually look

Rather than assuming the deficit exists because less food feels like the rule being followed, the real check is in the macros themselves, protein, carbs, and fat, and where each one is coming from. That's where the gap usually shows up.
